Since the signup is free, HomeExchange requires three levels of verification to increase confidence and security among our members:
- Address and identity verifications
- Phone verification
- E-mail verification
1. Address and identity verifications
To become a verified member you must:
- Complete both your listing and your profile to 100%. You can check how to complete you home to 100% on this link and for your profile on this link.
- Send in the following documentation as proof of residence and identity:
- an identity document (scan or clear photo of your ID or passport)
- a proof of residence no older than 6 months (a scan of a bill that is no older than 6 months, a rental contract, etc.)

2. Phone verification
Phone verification assures other members that your phone number is real and that your host/guest does not need worry about having an unpleasant surprise should they try to contact you with your phone. To verify your phone number, you simply have to go to "My profile" and you will find it under "confidential information". There, you will find your phone number and a button to verify it as well.
Once you click on the "Verify phone number" button, you will receive a text message to your phone number. It will contain a numeric code that you will have to enter into the platform. If you do not have a mobile phone number and you only have a landline number, you can contact us at and we will verify it for you. Once you have verified your phone number, a blue tick will appear next to your phone number.
3. E-mail verification
Along with the verification of your address and identity and phone number, you also need to verify your email.
If you are an active user, your email address would have been verified directly and this means that you will have a green tick next to your email address. To see if your email address has been verified automatically or if you need to verify it, go to "My profile" and just below your phone number, you will have the option to verify your email by receiving a confirmation email. Once your email has been verified, you will see a green tick next to it.
Remember, not all of the information found on your profile is available for members to see. Only your phone number and email address will be shown to members with whom you finalized an exchange with, in the exchange details.
