One of our HomeExchange fundamentals is communicating well with your exchange partners. We recommend you continue to do so as you get local insight and communicate with your host or guest before making a decision and taking action.
Every decision will be made objectively and without discrimination.
If you cancel your exchange due to the epidemic, to follow official advice or restrictions, this would be considered a force majeure by HomeExchange, and you would be covered by the following measures, as applicable:
If you are a guest and your travel destination is affected:
If you no longer want to travel or if you live in a contaminated zone and have decided to cancel your trip to another country, please contact your host to let him/her know. He should cancel the exchange from your conversation by clicking on "Cancel the exchange". If your exchange was finalised before 17 March 2020 and starts before 31 May 2020, we will allow both yourself and your host to keep the GuestPoints. The GuestPoints will be added to your account in less than 48 hours, there is no need for you to contact us.
As we are not able to foresee the evolution of the situation, the measures concerning the exchanges taking place after 31 May 2020 will be determined at the beginning of April. If you are in such a situation, we advise you to continue communicating with your exhange partner before making a decision and consult this page for updates.
If you have organised a reciprocal or non reciprocal exchange and your exchange partner decides not to travel anymore and therefore cannot host you, please contact us at email@example.com.
If you are staying at your host’s home and are not allowed to leave a region after your exchange please contact us and we will assist you in looking for another exchange.
If your exchange is scheduled to take place in a few months, do not hesitate to communicate with your exchange partner about any concerns and keep in mind that the situation might change in the upcoming weeks or months.
If you are a host and you would like to cancel the exchange, please communicate about it with your guest and cancel the exchange on the platform. Our Member Support team will be in touch with your guest to assist them. Do not worry, cancelling an exchange in this situation will not have any negative impact on you.
